The Basics
What is Stepcast
and how does it work?
Stepcast is a self-guided audio walking tour you access on your phone browser. No app to download, no account needed and no time slot to book. Each tour covers a curated route through a city, with narrated audio and written text at every stop covering history, architecture, culture and the contemporary city.
No. Stepcast works entirely in your phone browser. Open the link, unlock the tour and start walking. Works on iPhone and Android, any browser, with no download and no account required.
Stepcast tours are created by Erika, a Clinical Specialist and passionate traveller based in the UK. Every city is personally visited before a tour is written. Each stop is thoroughly researched, covering history, architecture, culture and the contemporary city. The research goes beyond the obvious, drawing on local sources and first-hand visits to get under the skin of each city.
No app, no account, no subscription. Every tour is personally visited and researched, not written from a desk. The first 3 stops are always free so you can judge the quality before paying. And at €4.99 for lifetime access, there are no hidden costs.
Using the Tour
On the day
of your walk.
No. There is no booking with Stepcast, no time slot and no group. Purchase the tour and start whenever you are ready. Any day, any time.
That is exactly why Stepcast exists. Most group tours start at a fixed time, often 10am, and if your flight lands at noon or you want a slow morning, you have missed it. With Stepcast, you start when you are ready. No schedule, no rushing.
Yes. This is one of the things people love most about Stepcast. Pause the audio at any stop, spend as long as you like inside Westminster Abbey, the Alcazar or wherever you are, then carry on exactly where you left off when you come back out.
Most tours take between 2 and 3 hours at a relaxed pace, but many people take longer because they go inside landmarks, stop for food or simply linger. The tour waits for you. There is no pressure to keep moving.
Yes. Your unlock is saved to your browser. Close the page, go for lunch, come back tomorrow. The tour picks up exactly where you left it. Lifetime access means you can revisit the tour on future trips too.
The tour works best with a data connection, which is easy to maintain in all the cities Stepcast covers. If you are concerned about data, connect to WiFi before you start and the audio for each stop will load as you go. The written text at every stop is always available.

Who is it for?
Is Stepcast
right for me?
Yes. Because there is no group and no fixed time pressure, Stepcast works well for families. Move at whatever pace suits everyone, take breaks whenever you need, and skip anything that isn't landing.
Yes. Stepcast is particularly popular with solo travellers who want depth and context without having to join a group or stick to someone else's pace. Start when you want, go where you want and stop when you have had enough.
Often more so. Repeat visitors tend to get the most from Stepcast because they already know the layout of the city and can focus on understanding what they are looking at. Most people discover things about familiar places they never knew.
